Haparanda River introduction

Beauty at the Finnish-Swedish border

How would and overnight stay in Haparanda sound, right on the Swedish-Finnish border?

BestPark Haparanda River with three plus is located in a scenic area by the river. From here it is only a five minute drive to Tornio, which is on the other side of the Tornio River. From Haparanda you can easily get to Tornio via the bridge and vice versa, which is why people are used to doing business on both sides. These two nearby towns form a special twin town, Haparanda-Tornio. They have a common center and cooperate in many different areas.

The spacious travel park with as many as 59 caravan or motorhome parking slots, contains an extensive range of camping services, such as a service building, a sauna, a private beach, a barbecue house and an outdoor dishwashing area. The travel park also has nine tent sites that can be booked via the Bestpark booking system. A few meters from the park, the super-popular River Restaurant Haparanda invites you to enjoy the food, which is famous by both locals and other visitors.

In addition to the beach destination, Tornionjoki is also an excellent fishing spot, famous for its salmon waters, where there is plenty to do for fishing lovers. You can go on a day trip to the Haparanda Archipelago National Park. It covers an area of about 6,000 hectares, of which the land area is about 770 hectares. The national park consists of a couple of large and a few smaller islands. Those who are enthusiastic about culture should also familiarize themselves with the original art and design culture of Haparanda at the Aine Art Museum or by admiring the street art in the area. When you want to see different animals, you can go to Björka small zoo, where the family’s big and small thrive. If you want water sports experiences, you can rent water jets to the beach, where you can enjoy a beautiful summer day on a playful ride.

Haparanda is famous for its shopping facilities. There are several shops in the center of Haparande that attract customers. Ikea is also a popular shopping area, close to a large shopping center with many stores from well-known manufacturers, as well as Candy World, Europa’s largest candy store. It is also worth taking advantage of the area’s extensive range of restaurants, as you can experience both Finnish and Swedish flavors here. The fish is guaranteed to be fresh because it comes directly from the fish.

It is not necessary to raise the Swedish krona, as many players in Haparanda also accept euro as their currency. The debit card can be used on both sides of the border. At park, you book your stay in euros.

Varessäikkä introduction

Beach holiday destination by the sea

If you are considering a beach holiday in Finland, look no further than BestPark Varessäikkä! Varessäikkä is a small peninsula in the municipality of Siikajoki in Northern Ostrobothnia, quite close to Oulu, with an atmospheric sandy beach. The area of the peninsula, which extends into the Bay of Bothnia, is ideal for a summer holiday for the whole family. The beach is well suited for even the youngest members of the family thanks to the shallow bathing water, and the water quality is monitored regularly.

The three-plus caravan park is located near a quiet beach by the exotic archipelago. The boat harbour has a barbecue hut with a campfire, as well as a beach volley court. There are excellent opportunities for outdoor activities such as running or walking. There is a long mountain bike trail that starts from the beach for experiencing the joy of cycling in nature. Services on the beach are provided by a local kiosk and the legendary Tyybäkinoja barbecue trailer where you can enjoy mouth-watering perch burgers and more. The coast is also home to historic buildings, such as a lighthouse-like tower that is ideal for birdwatching. There are several different species of waterfowl in Varessäikkä, and they can be easily observed in the open fields within walking distance of the caravan park as well.

Although the marshes of Varessäikkä attract hunters, berry pickers and hikers, the beach is still peaceful. Here you can listen to the splash of the waves and birdsong. Attractions in Siikajoki include three 18th-century churches, each less than a 45-minute drive from the park. Golf lovers are served by the 18-hole Raahentienoo golf course located about 11 kilometres from the caravan park.

Varessäikkä, located in the strait between Hailuoto and the mainland, is easily reached on a day trip from Oulu, which is about 60 kilometres away. From Raahe, you can drive to the site in just over 30 minutes.

Taivalkoski introduction

BestPark Taivalkoski takes visitors to the intersection of four different national parks. It offers visitors extraordinary nature experiences in fantastic scenery. In Taivalkoski, which is located in the northeast highlands of Northern Ostrobothnia, you can draw strength from the stillness and really feel the touch of nature throughout the year. Here, it really pays off to just stop for a moment and take in the scenery.

There are plenty of hiking areas and trails to trek. At the highest point of Taivalkoski on the Pyhitystunturi fell, you can admire the spectacular view at an altitude of 422 metres. Visiting the fell is especially rewarding in the summer, when even children can climb the rocky trail all the way to the top. Featuring an adventure park, ski resort, canoeing centre and other places of activity, the park allows visitors to engage in sports and other outdoor activities all year round. During the summer, the clean fishing waters and forests filled with berries offer an abundance of natural delicacies for the visitors. In the winter, you can make the most of your stay at the ski resort by trying out dog sledding or renting a snowmobile.

Taivalkoski offers a wide range of cultural activities. If you’re hungry for culture, there are various events and year-round cultural destinations to choose from. In the beginning of July, the Kalle Päätalo Society organises the annual Päätalo week, which focuses on the life and works of the region’s best-known author. In the town centre, you can make a tour of the cultural trail Taivalkoski of a Thousand Stories and stop for coffee at the marketplace named after Kalle Päätalo, who was born in Taivalkoski. The over 18-metre long art bridge “Over Time” (Yli ajan) brings the Putaansaari island, which has remained undisturbed for a long time, back into contact with the rest of Taivalkoski. The mysterious Fairy Tale Trail leads both children and adults through the spectacular hillside scenery of Taivalkoski and into the magical world of fairy tales. The Jalava store, the oldest shop in Finland still in business, introduces visitors to genuine old-time atmosphere. In addition to this fascinating ambience, the shop also offers traditional clothing, handicrafts and café products

Taivalkoski offers excellent opportunities for diverse outdoor activities and is particularly popular among those who travel by car. It is easy for caravans to turn to the two-plus caravan park near the ski resort, which is located 150 kilometres from Oulu and about 60 kilometres from Kuusamo.

In summer, you can take part in guided fishing trips to the Näätämöjoki river on the Norwegian side, easily accessible by car. Näätämöjoki river is one of the few wild salmon rivers in Finland. There are also plenty of good grayling, perch, and trout waters near Näätämö. Your guide will instantly conjure up a tasty meal of the fresh catch on an open fire.

In winter, you can reach the fishing waters by snowmobile. Snowmobile routes run from Näätämö via Lake Sevettijärvi to Ivalo and via Opukasjärvi to Nuorgam, as well as to the Norwegian side to Finnmarken.
